Tyra BanksTyra Banks This Archer has hit more than one bull's eye -- she's a supermodel, a role model, a movie star and a talk show host. 'Self-love has very little to do with how you feel about your outer self. It's about accepting all of yourself. You've got to learn to accept the fool in you as well as the part that's got it goin' on. Tyra Lynne Banks was born in Los Angeles to Carolyn London and Don Banks. She was raised in Inglewood, California by her mom, a photographer who is also her manager and best friend. While still a student at a private Catholic girls' school, Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, she landed a contract with Elite Model Management. She graduated in 1991 and although she was accepted by several prestigious universities, including UCLA and Loyola Marymount, she chose to go to Paris to follow her dream of becoming a model. She was an instant hit and has worked for Cover Girl, Bill Blass, Christian Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Donna Karan, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Kors, Nike, Oscar de la Renta, Pepsi, Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret and Yves St. Laurent, among others. She's graced the cover of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Elle, GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 2000, Sports Illustrated declared her Woman of the Year. Tyra's 1993 TV debut was on 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.' She has made appearances on 'New York Undercover,' 'The Hughleys,' 'Felicity,' 'MADtv' and 'Nick Cannon's Wild 'n Out.' She not only has hosted 'America's Next Top Model,' she also has served as executive producer. Her first movie was Higher Learning in 1995, followed in 1999 by Love Stinks. In 2000, she played Zoe in Coyote Ugly and also appeared in Life-Size and Love and Basketball. In 2002, she did Halloween: Resurrection and Eight Crazy Nights. In 2005, Tyra quit modeling to launch 'The Tyra Banks Show' where her topics cover the gamut from teens victimized by cyber bullying to dreams come true to deeply personal conversations with celebs like Nicole Richie, who showed her what it's like to be stalked by a pack of paparazzi. She also runs her own company, TYInc. In 2007, she was named Role Model for Models by Class-Elite Magazine. More than once, Time Magazine has named her one of the most influential people in the world. Sun in Sagittarius means Tyra is a risk-taker and a trail-blazer. She loves to explore and to take the untried path. She is independent, freedom-loving and often quite restless. To Tyra, life is a journey, endlessly interesting and so rich with possibilities that it may be difficult for her to decide where to concentrate her efforts. While it's obvious from her resume, the stars also tell us she traveled around and experimented with many different paths before settling on a particular career. An incurable optimist, she has big dreams for the future. With a great deal of faith and a sporting, playful attitude, she is philosophical about her mistakes. She has the ability to sense future trends and see the big picture. She expresses herself in a very open, straightforward manner and can be blunt and tactless at times. While she enjoys friendship and camaraderie, she needs freedom. A possessive, clinging or emotionally demanding partner is definitely not her cup of tea. She is quite generous and deeply dislikes stinginess in others. A person who shares her ideals, sense of fun and zest for life would be the ideal companion for her. Sun in the 9th house says world travel, foreign cultures and studies which broaden her understanding of the world are her turn-ons. She has a philosophical mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life. A recent topic on her show, for example, was addicted moms. Sun sextile Jupiter tells us she is likely to be blessed with more than her share of helpful friends. Because she is willing to give back in a generous way, she continues to generate success. Sun conjunct Neptune makes her sensitive and imaginative. Although it goes without saying, the planets do say she is attracted to artistic and creative pursuits. Impressionable and receptive, she is also attracted to mysticism. Gentle, idealistic and peace-loving, she has an ethereal quality about her. Sun conjunct Mercury/N. Node indicates she has a strong need for intellectual pursuits. On her website, she says one of the great outcomes of retiring from modeling is that 'I can use my brain at work every day now.' It could be hard for her to face up to her mistakes because of insecurity and self-doubt. The stars say her early years could have been undermined by one of her parents. In fact, her parents divorced when she was six. Moon in Aries warns that emotional outbursts are frequent due to impulsiveness and a hot temper. She expresses herself very directly and no one has to guess what her true feelings are. However, she dislikes showing personal weakness and abhors emotional dependency. She inspires others to take positive action in their lives and is attracted to people who are courageous and independent. She can be bossy, but isn't into hanging out with people she can boss around. She prefers relationships built on mutual respect. Without a great deal of vigorous physical activity she could become a little ornery. Moon in the first house tells us she relates very sympathetically to others. Her feelings are on the surface and she cannot hide her emotions. Moon square Saturn tells us she is very sensitive to criticism and though she may appear cool or distant, she actually cares very much about being included. Moon trine Neptune suggests the beauty and harmony of her surroundings has a powerful effect on her emotions. She is very sensitive and cannot stand to be in an atmosphere where there is conflict. With Moon opposite Pluto her personal relationships can be intense, as they trigger emotional responses in her that have more to do with unmet childhood needs than with the present situation. Pisces rising reveals she is sensitive, with a deep understanding of people. She is very compassionate and cannot tolerate seeing any fellow creature suffer -- be it human, animal or even plant. Because she is both giving and forgiving, people in need gravitate to her, sensing her sympathetic nature. With Sun square her rising sign she has a strong desire to be seen and recognized, to be acknowledged and to have a significant influence on people around her. She may do remarkable things in order to be noticed. Neptune square the ascendant means she is extremely sensitive to the energies around her. Learning to establish clear boundaries is important for her. Saturn trine her rising sign tells us that even when she was young, there was a maturity to her that inspired people to rely on her. Pluto quincunx Pisces says that no matter how gentle or unassuming she may be on the surface, she is also a force to be reckoned with. She has causes and passions that drive her and when one of these is aroused she is quite zealous in her pursuit or defense of it. An ascendant conjunct Moon/Jupiter tells us she has an open and cheerful manner and attracts attention because of her good taste in clothing, hairdo and well kept appearance. 'I'm a perfectionist,' she says. 'Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's okay if there are flaws here and there.' |
