Scarlett JohanssonScarlett Johansson While this Archer with her Scorpio moon have been aiming for the stars since childhood, she likes to keep her personal life out of the limelight. 'It's nice to have everybody not know your business.' Scarlett Johansson was born to Danish-born New York architect Karsten Johansson and producer Melanie Sloan (now Scarlett's manager) from a Bronx family of Polish Ashkenazi Jews. Her parents separated when she was 13 and eventually divorced. She has a half-brother named Christian, a sister named Vanessa, an older brother named Adrian and a twin brother named Hunter. Show business runs in her family as several of her siblings are also actors and her grandfather on her father's side wrote and directed films. In 2002, she graduated from New York City's Professional Children's School. She made her movie debut in 1994 in the critically panned drama North. In 1995 she starred in Just Cause with Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Capshaw and Ed Harris. In 1996 she did Manny and Lo and If Lucy Fell and in 1998 earned critical acclaim for her role alongside Robert Redford in The Horse Whisperer. Next came Ghost World, followed by Lost in Translation with Bill Murray, which earned her a BAFTA Award, and Girl with a Pearl Earring. In 2004 she starred in The Perfect Score, In Good Company and A Love Song for Bobby Long. In 2005 she starred in sci-fi action film The Island, as well as Woody Allen's tennis murder drama, Match Point. 2006 saw her in another Woody Allen movie, Scoop and The Black Dahlia by Brian De Palma. She also hosted 'Saturday Night Live,' starred in a music video for Bob Dylan's song 'When the Deal Goes Down' and starred in a thriller about magicians titled The Prestige. In 2007 she appeared again on 'SNL,' this time singing a duet with Andy Samberg and starred in The Nanny Diaries with Alicia Keyes. 2008 brought yet another Woody Allen film, Vicky Christina Barcelona as well as The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman, and Drew Barrymore's He's Just Not That Into You. Scarlett has also launched a singing career. In 2006 she sang 'Summertime' on Unexpected Dreams -- Songs from the Stars and in 2007 performed with The Jesus And Mary Chain. She recorded her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head at Louisiana's Dockside Studio. The album features ten Tom Waits tunes and one original. As an active Democrat, she campaigned for John Kerry in 2004 and for Barack Obama in 2008. She performed with many other celebrities in the music video 'Yes We Can,' produced by musician will.i.am and directed by Jesse Dylan to promote Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Scarlett is a Global Ambassador for the aid and development agency, Oxfam and has participated in U2 singer Bono's ONE campaign to make poverty history. Sun in Sagittarius means Scarlett is a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds and to take the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. She is an independent, freedom-loving soul. A steady routine which offers security but little freedom is odious to her. To Scarlett, life is a journey, endlessly interesting and rich with possibilities. It may be difficult for her to decide where to focus her attention. She may be disinclined to take on the burdens and limitations of adult life. An incurable optimist, she has big dreams and hopes for the future. She is usually pursuing a distant goal. She has a great deal of faith in life and always bounces back from disappointments, often with another bright dream. She has a sporting, playful attitude toward life and is philosophical about her mistakes. She has the ability to sense future trends and to see the big picture. She expresses herself in an open manner and can be blunt. While she enjoys friendship and camaraderie, she needs freedom also and does not do well with a possessive or emotionally demanding partner. She is quite generous herself and heartily dislikes pettiness in others. Someone who shares her ideals, her sense of fun and her zest for life would be the right companion for her. Sun in 9th house means world travel, foreign cultures, and studies which expand her intellectual horizons and broaden her understanding of the world are very attractive to her. She has a philosophical mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life. Abstract concepts and/or plans for the future occupy her mind much of the time. Sun conjunct Saturn/Uranus tells us she tends to look for avenues to test her strength. She uses all the energy at her disposal in order to succeed. Somewhat rebellious, she fights any resistance she meets. With Sun conjunct Neptune/Pluto her imagination is very vivid and she is likely to dream big. Moon in Scorpio makes her secretive and inclined to brooding silences. It is difficult for others to really know her inner core, for she trusts and opens herself to very few. Allowing herself to be vulnerable is not easy for her. She has intense, passionate loves and hates and is a jealously loyal and protective friend -- or a fearsome foe. She has a habit of holding on to past hurts, resentments and guilt -- and to keep such feelings to herself. It is important for her to learn to forgive and let go, as well as to express her feelings openly and directly, rather than hiding or repressing them. With a great deal of emotional depth, she is always probing beneath the surface for hidden motives. Moon in the 9th house tells us she may have done extensive traveling in her early years, or in some way had a background which enables her to understand and identify with many different types of people or cultures. She has a craving for things she has never experienced before. She wants to completely immerse herself in the feelings and tastes of a new place. Emotionally she is restless and something of a wanderer. Moon conjunct Mercury/Pluto says she has the ability to speak with her heart and soul and therefore to convince people. Pisces rising reveals she is gentle and sensitive with a deep understanding of people and a very tolerant approach towards life. In a noisy, competitive atmosphere she is often withdrawn for she is not an aggressive person and she intensely dislikes conflict. Letting things resolve themselves in their own way is often her way of dealing with problems. She may have a deeply religious or spiritual feeling about life, which makes many human aspirations seem rather unimportant. She needs peaceful surroundings in order to flourish and periods of quiet solitude are essential for her emotional balance and well-being. She is also very compassionate and cannot tolerate seeing any fellow creature suffer. Because she is very giving and forgiving, people in need gravitate to her. Often she will continue to give to a person even when she realizes they are taking advantage of her or becoming overly dependent upon her. Her intuition and heart, not her head, lead her. She recognizes that there is more to life than can be explained intellectually and she has an open attitude toward such areas as psychic phenomena, telepathy and parapsychology. She is able to see many different points of view and to accept all of them as valid. Sun square her ascendant tells us that she has a strong desire to be seen and recognized and to have a significant influence on people in her environment. Pluto trine her ascendant means there is a certain intensity, charisma or compelling attractiveness about her -- an energy, a subtle sexuality that she emanates. She tends to do everything wholeheartedly and with passion, which is fascinating to other people. Her instincts and psychological perceptions about others are quite incisive. With her ascendant conjunct Uranus/N. Node she is always ready and willing to challenge life. Responding quickly to people around her, she spontaneously connects with them and tends to become stimulated through them. Says Scarlett, 'What I respect most in people is naturalness and authenticity. I like to be able to see into their soul. I aspire to being a truthful person.' |
