Sarah Michelle GellarSarah Michelle Gellar With her Sun and Venus in Aries, this vampire-slaying actress has been working since she was a toddler. 'One of the greatest gifts my job has given me is that my mother, who gave up her entire life for me, doesn't have to work any more. I'm now in a position to repay her for her devotion.' Sarah Michelle Gellar's Tarot Reading Sarah Michelle Gellar is an only child raised by a single mom, Rosellen Greenfield, who taught nursery school. She attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, the Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music, Art and the Performing Arts and Professional Children's High School -- all in New York City. About Professional Children's High School she says, 'Everybody there had a talent and everyone was respected. If somebody didn't like you -- they didn't talk to you! They didn't make fun of you, punish you. You could, you know, mess around with how you dress. You really had that chance to find yourself and I thank God for that school. I went there feeling amazingly untalented. That school was my lifeline. Let me tell you something -- talent night at our school? There was nothing like it.' She graduated early with a straight-A average. Her film career began when she was five as Jennifer Bianchi in An Invasion of Privacy (1983). Her parents were divorced in 1984. In 1991 she played Jacqueline Bouvier (Kennedy Onassis) as a teenager in A Woman Named Jackie and in 1992 played Sydney Orion Rutledge in TV series 'Swans Crossing.' She played Kendall Hart on 'All My Children' from 1993 to 1995, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in 1994 for her role. In 1997, she earned further creds with roles in horror films Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer. 1999 saw her in Cruel Intentions, an updated version of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. That same year Sarah Michelle followed in Lynda Carter's footsteps to become spokeswoman for Maybelline. In 2001, she appeared in indie thriller Harvard Man and in 2002 starred in kid flick Scooby Doo. Also in 2002, she and actor/rocker Jack Black hosted the MTV Movie Awards. In 2004, she played Karen Davis in The Grudge and reprised the role in 2006 in The Grudge 2. 2006 brought another horror film, The Return. From 1997 to 2003 she inhabited the character she's best known for -- Buffy Summers in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' In 2001 she received the Extraordinary Achievement nod at the Teen Choice Awards, both for being a good role model and for her work with Habitat for Humanity and other charities. Presenting the award was her Buffy co-star Michelle Trachtenberg. In an April 27, 1998 New York Times interview about Buffy, she said, 'To me, the scariest elements of horror films are the things that could really happen. And what is more scary than high school? ... What I like about the show is that it reminds you it's okay to be different. What people think isn't necessarily true. If people walk away with half of that, we've done our job.' In October of 2002, Madame Tussaud presented her waxen image at an exhibition entitled the Trail of Vampires. Sun in Aries says she loves action and is always ready to do something new, make changes or bring in some fresh blood. She is not afraid of trying something that's never been done before and may invent or initiate things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following her own star are the breath of life for her and she can get quite angry if impeded. She is direct, enthusiastic and assertive. She believes in the power of positive action and considers herself a strong person -- even invincible. Integrity, personal honor and authenticity are her maxims and she has little respect for character flaws in others. 'I am militant about drugs,' she declares. 'You want to do 'em? You're out of my life.' Mercury in Taurus tells us her mind operates in a very deliberate and methodical manner and she can be very difficult to influence once her mind is made up. She succeeds because she has the ability to concentrate and follow through to a project's completion. She has an aptitude for singing or drawing. Mercury square Saturn indicates that she has a knack for solving difficult mental problems and enjoys studying in solitude. 'I got a computer and I'm learning how to use it,' she tells us. 'I collect antique books, so I used it to get my copy of Les Liaisons Dangereuses and I use it for travel, to look up customs. I went to Fiji and I looked up all this stuff before I went, like 'Don't wear a hat in someone's house because it's rude and don't wear shoes.' You've got to think there's something better I can do with my time than log on to the Internet and say, 'Ooo, let's find out about me!' I think that would frighten me a little bit.' Venus in Aries tells us she enjoys a partner who is dynamic and alive, someone with a strong independent streak. She does not like things to become too predictable in the love arena and wants to see sparks fly once in awhile, even if it means starting a fight. Venus trine Saturn means loyalty, fidelity and security are very important to her. She is cautious about giving her heart away but true to the one who does win her love. Casual or superficial relationships don't interest her at all, for love seems to get deeper, richer and more satisfying for her with time. She and actor Freddie Prinze Jr. met while they were working on I Know What You Did Last Summer. They were married on September 1, 2002. The two have worked together on several other films including She's All That (1999), Scooby Doo (2002), Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) and Happily N'Ever After (2005). With Mars in Pisces she is noncompetitive and something of a pacifist. She does not have a strong ego drive for winning at the expense of someone else. Being first, being best, being on top doesn't mean much to her and she can be quite happy in a supporting role, working for the benefit of others or for a cause she believes in. She has high ideals and a strong mystical impulse. She also has a creative imagination and can successfully apply herself to art or music. Mars square Neptune suggests that ordinary life often seems drab and uninteresting to her and she must have something that stirs her imagination to motivate her. In her words, 'I only see myself doing films that interest me and that are a little bit off the beaten path. I will go wherever that takes me ... I always say it just can't be generic. I can't be the girlfriend or the wife or the ... you can't play the characters that I've been blessed to play and then do that. I can't be the girl in the film.' She has a strong urge to act out her fantasies and will do things that others only talk or dream about. 'I don't understand why James Bond has to be a man all the time. When Pierce Brosnan retires, why not one of us?' Saturn sextile Pluto tells us she is capable of overcoming tremendous odds and of enormous self-discipline and focus. Says Sarah Michelle, 'You'll never know what you're capable of if you don't try.' Jupiter in Gemini shows she has the ability to see connections between seemingly unrelated ideas or worlds and to bring them together. She excels in any field requiring clear intellect and communication skills. She has an insatiable curiosity and her mind never stops. When asked what she would do if she weren't an actress, she replied, 'I would go to college to be a journalist. I always wanted to write for Time or Newsweek.' 'I think the best piece of advice I've ever gotten is to trust myself and go for my dreams. I got that from my mom.' |
