Samantha Morton

Birth Details:
May 13, 1977
Nottingham, England

Well before she got the part of Sarah in In America, actress Samantha Morton had been quietly building a solid reputation for herself -- in fact, she'd been doing so since the tender age of 13. After three years in England's Central Junior Television Workshop, she joined the theater group The Royal Court and really began to hone her talents. Meanwhile, she kept busy doing radio plays and small television parts. From there, Morton went on to enjoy a string of successful small-screen roles in BBC/A&E productions. But while her face was growing more recognizable on both sides of the Atlantic, Morton's name still remained something of a mystery, even to the most devoted motion picture aficionados. While an Oscar nomination in 2000 brought her new celebrity, Morton's anonymity truly ended when she burst onto the Hollywood scene in 2002, landing the part of Agatha in Steven Spielberg's Minority Report opposite none other than Tom Cruise.

Morton has often been quoted as saying she'd rather wait for a good part than take 'just anything' -- a trait that's quite characteristic of her Taurus Sun. It's quality, not quantity, that comes first to this earthy sign. Once Taurus folks have chosen a path, there can be only one speed: slow and deliberate. They absolutely will not be budged along the way to achieving their goals, and they're famously patient -- a combination that has helped create many a superstar.

Samantha Morton's Tarot Reading

But many top-notch actresses and actors have something else in common, astrologically speaking: Neptune, the planet of secrecy and illusion, placed quite prominently in their charts. Morton is no exception. Neptune bestows a mixed blessing: This planet is in charge of the concept of glamour, a gift that's absolutely necessary if you're after movie-star status. But back in ancient times, glamour wasn't just associated with ethereal, theatrical beauty; it was used to describe the type of spell that was cast to change physical appearances. In Morton's case, Neptune's glamorous influence is connected to five planets -- out of a possible nine -- making her quite able to become whoever or whatever she'd like to be. Neptune also rules invisibility, so it's not surprising that she managed to become well known without becoming a household name.

Morton also has what's known as a grand trine in her chart, which only occurs when at least three planets in one of the elements -- fire, earth, air or water -- are connected in a giant triangle. With this pattern in action, the accentuated element is extremely strong, and the qualities of that element -- in Morton's case, fire -- are easily accessible to the owner. Fire represents inspiration and drive. Add that to the determination of her Taurus Sun and the magic and mystery conjured by Neptune, and it's easy to see Morton just may turn into a star of exceptional caliber -- and not by accident.
