Pink

Pink
September 8, 1979
Doylestown, Pennsylvania

This conscientious Virgo pulls no punches when it comes to saying what's on her mind.

'My dad raised me with some good advice: Always tell the truth. Always shoot from the hip. You might not have many friends, but you'll never have enemies, because people will always know where you're coming from.'

Pink's Tarot Reading

Alecia 'Pink' Moore wanted to be a singer from the time she was a little girl growing up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father, James Moore, is a Vietnam veteran. He and her mother, Judy Moore, were divorced when she was quite young. She went to Central Bucks West High School, graduating in 1997. Besides being involved in gymnastics, skateboarding and hip-hop, she performed in local talent shows. For several years she made appearances as a guest singer in local clubs. When she was thirteen, she sang backup for the rap group, Schools of Thought. It wasn't long before a record executive took notice of her talent and she teamed up with a female rock group. From there, she was signed to a deal with LaFace Records, launching her solo career. Her first album, Can't Take Me Home came out in 2002 and went multi-platinum within the year. One of her songs, 'There You Go,' hit the Top 10 list on the charts and went gold. Her stage name is based on Steve Buscemi's character, Mr. Pink, in the film Reservoir Dogs.

Sun in Virgo reveals that Pink is modest and humble at heart, with a sharp mind and a keen eye for detail. She likes to study life from a distance. She can be relied upon to be efficient and thorough in her work, taking pride in doing a job well. What she may lack in self-confidence she makes up for in skill -- developing technical knowledge and competency in specialized areas. She is adept at using her hands to create or fix things, and meticulous attention to detail and careful craftsmanship are her forte. Some would say she is a little too meticulous, for she can be extremely critical if things are not done exactly as she thinks they should be. 'I have to speak for myself,' explains Pink. 'As far as videos go -- casting, the artwork, everything -- I'm completely hands-on. You have to be if you want your points across.'

Pink is highly discriminating and may be especially particular about diet -- she is a strict vegan -- and health habits. She has high aesthetic standards and refined sensitivities. Her tastes are understated but sophisticated. She can be difficult to live with sometimes because of her fastidiousness, sensitivity and idiosyncrasies about food and cleanliness. Though she may seem cool and self-contained, she enjoys serving others and is quietly devoted to those she cares for. She is cautious and practical in her approach to life; disinclined to gamble, she analyzes before she acts. She can be too serious at times, and allowing herself to make mistakes would be good for her.

Sun conjunct Mercury means that she tends to be one-sided. There is little ambiguity in her approach and she generally knows what she wants and what will make her happy. Sun conjunct Venus reiterates that she tends to see things from her own, subjective perspective. She enjoys expressing her views but doesn't always listen as well. She has a clear mind, a love of learning and of new experiences, and needs constant mental stimulation. Sun conjunct Saturn makes her responsible, reserved and self-disciplined. She advances in life slowly, through her own efforts and persistence. Says Pink, 'I appreciate being a girl more now than ever. There's a struggle involved in it, but it's so rewarding when you prove to all men that you might have something up on 'em.'

It is difficult for her to really let go, as she likes to be in control of herself. Sun aspects Saturn and Uranus indicates that although she takes herself and her responsibilities seriously, there is also a part of her that rebels against rules, restrictions and outside authority. She can feel torn between fulfilling her obligations, and breaking free of them. Sun sextile Uranus influences her wilder side. Pink is definitely an original. She radiates a sort of electrical excitement about the things that interest her, and she conveys this to others. However, she is also easily bored. She doesn't mind being a bit unusual or breaking a few rules. 'I've always loved to prove people wrong,' she admits. 'I want to be able to cross color lines, because in music, there really is no barrier.'

Sun aspects Saturn and Neptune suggests that while she is realistic and conscientious (or overly conscientious), she also has an otherworldly, mystical side. Sun square Neptune shows that she is extremely sensitive and imaginative, and can get lost in dreams and visions. She is attracted to artistic and creative endeavors, the world of color, beauty and emotion. Gentle and peace loving, she has deep spiritual desires. Sun conjunct Mercury/Venus allows her to find the right words to express her feelings, especially in regard to love and friendship. She has a keen sense of beauty and appreciates art, music and poetry.

With Sun conjunct Mercury/Saturn, in addition to being very thorough, she enjoys games that require focus and thought. She would also find travel very rewarding. Sun conjunct Venus/N. Node means she is polite and thoughtful. She makes a special effort to meet others half-way and has a great ability to give and receive love.

Mercury in Virgo dictates that she is a perfectionist. Knowledge, ideas and theories don't really interest her unless they are useful in a tangible way. She may be inclined to analyze and dissect everything while missing nuances. She tends to be very good at what she does and critical of others' work if it does not meet her high standards. This comes across in her song, 'Stupid Girls:'

Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there

Laughing loud so all the little people stare

Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne

(Drop a name)

What happened to the dreams of a girl president

She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent

They travel in packs of two or three

With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees

Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?

Oh where, oh where could they be?

Venus in Virgo indicates that she is quietly devoted and faithful to her loved ones. She is more comfortable showing love for someone by doing or making something for them, or simply being there for them, than telling them so in a romantic way. She can be uncomfortable expressing too much sentiment or emotion. Venus sextile Mars means that she has a great rapport with the opposite sex. Love, romance and passion are absolutely vital to her wellbeing, and the physical component of a relationship is very important to her. She and motocross superstar Carey Hart met at the 2001 X Games in Las Vegas. On January 7, 2006 they were married.

Artistic creations and projects are another way for her to channel her passion. With Venus conjunct Saturn intimacy does not come easily to her and she may appear distant to others because of her emotional reserve. Perhaps painful relationships and separations in her early life, such as her parents' divorce, cause her to not trust others very easily. It takes a long time to take down all of her barriers and defenses. She will need to learn to value herself more and to express her appreciation for others more openly.

Venus aspects Saturn and Uranus suggests that when it comes to love, Pink is apt to feel pulled in several directions at once. In addition to her desire for depth and security in her relationships, she has an impulsive side that needs variety and excitement. With Venus sextile Uranus, spontaneity and freedom are important to her. She tends to surround herself with creative, unconventional people that keep her life lively. Music and dancing play an important part in her life. Venus square Neptune repeats that some of her yearnings may be expressed through art, music or mysticism. Venus conjunct Mars/Uranus discloses that her erotic nature is strong.

Mars in Cancer reveals that Pink avoids direct confrontation as much as possible and is uncomfortable with aggressiveness and personal power. The only time she will really fight is when she feels her loved ones, or something dear to her, are being harmed, and then she is a fierce defender. With a very strong protective side, she acts on impulse and instinct and may lash out at anyone she perceives as a threat to her home or family. However, she will rarely initiate a confrontation. Her goals tend to be very personal and centered on family closeness and inner satisfaction rather than worldly achievement. Pink is sensitive to stress and does not handle a high-pressured, competitive atmosphere very well. She can become irritable when there are many demands or tensions at work. Her energy level is dependent upon the emotional harmony (or lack of it) in her home. A supportive partner is of great benefit to her in helping achieve her goals and desires.

Mars aspects Saturn and Uranus shows that although she is patient and steady when pursuing an objective, when she finally loses patience she loses it completely. In addition to having great tenacity and perseverance, she has a daring and rebellious side as well. 'I decided at 15 that I didn't want to be one of those artists that gets up and sings love songs they don't mean,' says Pink. 'I decided that I was going to be me to the fullest extent, that my songs were going to reflect relationships I've had, things I've been through, and even the stuff I'm embarrassed about.'

Mars trine Uranus makes her lively, decisive and somewhat impulsive. She responds quickly and spontaneously to challenges, and enjoys vigorous physical activities that require fast reflexes and a good sense of rhythm and timing. She has an abundance of energy and vitality, and a restless desire to see progress and change. In other words, she hates stagnation. She is individualistic and makes a good leader, spearheading new projects and inspiring others to act. Pink is a strong advocate for the animal-rights organization PETA.

Saturn sextile Uranus shows that in meeting challenges, she has the ability to compromise and a capacity to endure discomfort. She remains steady in the midst of crisis or sudden change. She knows when to wait and when to make necessary changes and her timing is usually good. Pluto conjunct Venus/Uranus suggests that she is highly excitable and her romantic encounters are likely to be very intense. Extravagant and hot-blooded, her attachments may be unconventional and compulsive. With Pluto conjunct Saturn/Uranus she tends to rebel against the circumstances in her life and may make an extraordinary effort in overcoming difficulties. Provocative behavior from others often causes her to take a strong stand. Her song, 'Dear Mr. President' is a perfect example:

Dear Mr. President

Come take a walk with me

Let's pretend we're just two people and

You're not better than me

I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street

Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep

What do you feel when you look in the mirror

Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry

How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye

How do you walk with your head held high

Can you even look me in the eye

And tell me why?
