Paul RuddPaul Rudd This triple Aries has succeeded in three venues: television, film and theatre. 'There's something magical about a shared experience in a theater, with actors and an audience. I don't know if the audience members realize just how huge a part they play in a production. How they are determines how we are, and when it all works, it's magical.' Paul Stephen Rudd, of Polish, French and English descent, grew up in Overland Park, Kansas where he attended Broadmoor Junior High and Shawnee Mission High School. He went on to the University of Kansas in Lawrence and later switched to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West in Los Angeles. He also took part in a program at the British Drama Academy at Oxford University in England. He helped produce and also played the part of Percy Bysshe Shelley in Howard Brenton's Bloody Poetry at the Globe Theatre in London. 'There's a feeling of enrichment and challenge when it comes to doing a play, and especially doing ... a classical play or a tragic play,' said Paul. 'In a way, it works a different set of muscles. But I do love it, and I love great writing.' In April of 2006 he was back on Broadway doing a revival of Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain with Julia Roberts and Bradley Cooper. His film debut was in A Question of Ethics (1992) but his big break was in Clueless (1995). The rest of the 1990s saw him in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), The Size of Watermelons (1996), William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (1996), The Locusts (1997), Overnight Delivery (1998), The Object of My Affection (1998), in which he co-starred with Jennifer Anniston, 200 Cigarettes (1999), and The Cider House Rules (1999). In 2001 he was in Wet Hot American Summer, The Chateau and Reaching Normal. He did three films in 2003: The Shape of Things, Two Days and House Hunting. He played Brian Fantana in the comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy in 2004 and in 2005 was David in The 40 Year Old Virgin. In 2006, he appeared in The OH in Ohio, Knocked Up, Diggers and Night at the Museum. In 2007 he was Ethan the Druglord in Reno 911!: Miami and appeared in I Could Never Be Your Woman and How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fiance. Also in 2007, he produced The Ten. Big Brothers is in pre-production for 2008. In addition to his work in film Paul has appeared in countless TV roles including that of Kirby Philby in 6 episodes of 'Sisters' (1992-1995), Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby (2000) and Mike Hannigan in 17 episodes of 'Friends' (2002-2004). Sun in Aries tells us Paul is a person who craves the freedom to do things his own way. He works very well independently and likes to be in charge. He loves action. Routine and sameness are unacceptable to him. Taking risks and following his own star are what he lives for and he is inclined to get upset if he is hindered. He is spontaneous, impulsive and direct. He believes in the power of positive thinking and considers himself a strong person -- perhaps invincible. Accepting his own limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for him. With Sun trine Mars he is a go-getter. He enjoys competition and his resourcefulness and self-confidence make him a winner. Sun conjunct Mercury/Venus says he always seems to find the right words to verbalize his feelings, especially in regard to love and friendship. He has a keen sense of beauty and an appreciation for art, music or poetry. Mercury in Aries makes him outspoken and direct, always eager to express his ideas and opinions. He is not afraid to make waves. He has fresh, original ideas and great enthusiasm for anything new. Once the novelty has worn off, however, he is ready to move on to the next new idea. He never seems to have enough time to do all he wants to. He is very honest and speaks persuasively about his convictions although he may be somewhat lacking in diplomacy. With Mercury conjunct Venus he appreciates aesthetics and has a fine sense of design and beauty. He could develop considerable technical skill as an artist, designer, craftsman or creative writer. He has the ability to please and harmonize well with others and is likely to ameliorate relationships between people. His sense of humor, insight and personal charm are of great benefit on a one-to-one level. Venus in Aries reveals that his feelings of love and desire are easily aroused but it may be difficult to sustain his romantic interest. He enjoys a partner who is energetic and alive, someone with a strong independent streak. He does not like things to become too peaceful or predictable in the love arena. He wants to see sparks fly once in awhile, even if it means starting a fight. Venus conjunct Sun/Saturn warns that he tends to suppress his feelings and approach other people with reserve. But once he enters a relationship, he will be faithful and steady. On February 23, 2003 Paul married Julie Yaeger. They have a son named Jack. Mars in Sagittarius ensures he is optimistic, inventive and forever following a bright and distant star -- always planning a new venture or investigating new potentials. He aims high and is not content with a simple, secure existence. He likes to stretch his limits and to take risks. A positive thinker, he expects success for himself and is philosophical about failures. He bounces back from disappointment quickly, usually with another new idea. His enthusiasm and confidence are contagious, enabling him to enlist the support he needs for his projects. However, he sometimes promises more than he can actually deliver because he is overly optimistic or pays insufficient attention to the practicalities involved. He also tends to get distracted and to have too many things going at once. Sports and entrepreneurial endeavors are good ways to channel his energy. Jupiter in Virgo indicates his ability to think things through clearly and understand the smallest details of any plan is highly developed. He has a modest nature and is more concerned with the success of a project than with personal aggrandizement. He enjoys working and is happiest when he is being productive and using his time efficiently. Jupiter conjunct Uranus means he is very enthusiastic and high-spirited. He injects a positive note into any endeavor and others enjoy his fun-loving and creative attitude. 'Working on a comedy with your friends ... I would say that with Anchorman and 40-Year-Old Virgin and Wet Hot American Summer, I was working with people who are completely inspiring. I love being around that company, and I try and step up to the level of their game.' |
