Patricia Arquette's Tarot Reading

Patricia T. Arquette was born in Chicago to acting teacher, poet and peace activist Mardi Olivia Nowak and actor Lewis Arquette of the improv group The Committee. She has one sister, actress Rosanna Arquette and three brothers, actor/writer Richmond, actor Alexis (aka drag queen Eva Destruction) and actor/producer/director David Arquette. Her grandfather was comedic actor Cliff Arquette (aka Charlie Weaver on TV's 'Hollywood Squares'). When she was a child the Arquette clan moved to an artist commune in Fairfax County, Virginia, where she and her siblings were able to freely explore their creativity. Says Patricia, 'I grew up in a hippie commune so I have a real hippie part of me.' True to her hippie nature, at age 15 she took off for California. She lived with her sister who was already in hot pursuit of an acting career in Los Angeles. During the '70s she and her brothers all went to the Mid-City Alternative School in Los Angeles. She also studied at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies.

Her acting debut was in 1986 with a small role in Pretty Smart, but she created a buzz for herself the following year as Kristen Parker in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. After roles in Far North (1988) and Prayer of the Rollerboys (1990) she appeared in Sean Penn's directorial debut The Indian Runner (1991). In 1992 she played Kit Califano in Trouble Bound and Grace 'Monkey' Zetterland in Australian comedy Inside Monkey Zetterland. 1993 was her biggest year with a critically acclaimed performance in Ethan Frome with Liam Neeson. She earned further creds that year as Alabama Whitman in True Romance (1993) opposite Christian Slater, with whom she had a passing romance. Penned by Quentin Tarantino, True Romance also featured classic performances by Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper and Gary Oldman.

In 1994 she played Kathy O'Hara opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's dark comedy Ed Wood. Her 1995 portrayal of Laura Bowman in John Boorman's Beyond Rangoon garnered her more critical acclaim. 1996 saw her in David O. Russell's comedy Flirting with Disaster and Matthew Broderick's drama Infinity. In 1997 she appeared with Ewan McGregor in Nightwatch as well as in David Lynch's Lost Highway. Next she played femme fatale Mona Birk in Stephen Frear's Western drama The Hi-Lo Country (1998). In 1999 she starred opposite her husband at the time, Nicholas Cage, in Martin Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead (1999). That same year she appeared in Goodbye Lover and Stigmata. In 2000, she played Valerie Veran opposite Adam Sandler in Little Nicky, which also featured her father, Lewis. She appeared in Human Nature (2001), The Badge (2002) with Billy Bob Thornton and in 2003 portrayed Linda Lovelace in Deeper Than Deep. 2003 also saw her in Tiptoes and Disney's Holes. In 2005, she took the role that has carried her through three seasons and earned her an Emmy, that of psychic Allison DuBois in NBC's hit TV series 'Medium.' About her approach to this role she said, 'I wanted to play a woman who looks normal. It's important for me to be real.'

With her Sun in Aries, Patricia believes in authenticity and integrity above all. She is a self-reliant individualist who remains true to her own vision no matter what. She takes pleasure in being challenged. Sun conjunct Saturn gives her a mature and sometimes solemn demeanor: serious, reserved and self-disciplined. She can be rather stern and judgmental, especially with herself. It is difficult for her to really let go, to be spontaneous and playful. She likes to be in control of herself. Sun quincunx Pluto suggests she may be somewhat fanatic. Her extremism may seem (and actually be) obsessive. For example, when she was nominated for an acting award, she was more concerned with the victims of hurricane Katrina, saying, 'This is a great honor, being nominated. That's beautiful. But this is happening right now. And trucks are coming back from the South saying people need diapers, supplies ....' Like her character on 'Medium,' there is a strong element of fate or inevitability in her life. A significant death or loss may have profoundly influenced her. Indeed, in 1997 following her mother's death from breast cancer, she became active in the battle against cancer, running annually in the Race for the Cure.

Sun conjunct Venus/Mars reveals she is both sensitive and sensuous, a blend of charm and power. Romance comes easily to her and her romantic relationships are passionate. She has a healthy sexuality and a good balance between activity and passivity. Stating the obvious, the planets say she may be fond of singing, dancing, music and drama.

Mercury in Aries guarantees she is outspoken and candid, always ready to express her opinion. She doesn't mind butting heads or stirring up controversy. She has fresh, creative ideas and great interest in anything new, but once the novelty has worn off she is likely to move on to the next new thing.

Venus in Pisces shows she is exceptionally compassionate and considerate. She gives unselfishly and passionately to her loved ones but may allow them to become overly dependent upon her. On April 9, 1995 she married actor Nicolas Cage. They were divorced in May of 2001. She and actor Thomas Jane were engaged in August of 2002 and married in Italy at the Palazzo Contarini in Venice on June 24, 2006. About her marriage, she is effusive: 'I have to say, for the first time in my life I really do feel like I have a beautiful partnership. He's so easy to be with and so fair and good.' Patricia and Thomas have a daughter, Harlow Olivia Calliope, born February 20, 2003. She also has a son named Enzo from a previous relationship with musician Paul Rossi. Born in 1989, Enzo was 18 when Patricia received a phone call about him from a neighbor. As she told David Letterman on his show, the neighbor said, 'Your son has a P.A., all these amps and a whole band out on your front lawn and there's 100 people out there on the street.' And I was trying to be the long arm of the law, 'You can't do that, Enzo! How old are those kids? No underage drinking!' And meanwhile I'm so far away, I'm locked in at work. It's hard.' Venus trine Neptune repeats she is sensitive and compassionate and tends to be the 'giver' in any relationship. She has high ideals about love, seeking to relate in ways that are beyond ego needs and selfishness. She is attracted to people with artistic or mystical inclinations. When her real-life husband was cast as her ex-boyfriend in 'Medium,' she said, 'It was fun. It was really interesting. I mean, I know my husband's foxy, but I was, like, 'Oooooo, he's really foxy!''

Mars in Taurus means she is interested in concrete results and practical achievement. Once she sets her mind on a goal, her dedication to it is remarkable. She labors patiently and steadfastly until she achieves what she wants. She is a reliable, productive worker who often takes on more of the workload than her co-workers. Her stamina and persistence are her great strengths.

Jupiter in Leo gives her a tendency to exaggerate and an unusual capacity for fun and playfulness. She has a wonderful sense of drama and must live boldly and heroically, otherwise she feels she is simply existing and wasting her talents. The desire for recognition and a need to do something she feels really proud of motivates her strongly. Doing creative work -- anything that comes from her heart and bears the stamp of her individuality -- is important to her. In 2005 she received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in 'Medium.' She also received a nomination for a SAG Award in 2006 and a was nominated for Golden Globes in 2006 and 2007. About the show, she says, 'I really liked the relationship ... and the complications of having this kind of macabre, dark world, and trying to have a happy family at the same time. It seemed like a lot of conflict and that's always interesting to play.'

In the third season of 'Medium' she was directed by her brother David in an episode. Asked how she felt about taking direction from her kid brother she said, 'I was always a bossy little girl and being David's older sister I've bossed him around quite a bit. Now that he'll be directing me it will be payback time. I think it will be really interesting being directed by David because he knows me so well and I feel so safe with him. I think I'll be able to go to some of my darkest places.'
