Mick Jagger's Tarot Reading

Sir Michael Philip Jagger was born in Dartford, Kent in July of 1943. He met Keith Richards in primary school when they were four years old, but they went separate ways when they moved on to secondary schools. In 1960 they ran into each other by chance on a local train and discovered a common interest in blues and rock. It wasn't long before they started up a rock and roll band. Not just any rock and roll band, but the world's greatest rock and roll band -- The Rolling Stones.

With his Sun in Leo, Sir Mick is proud and intensely individual. He wants to stand out, to be the very best he can be, and to be recognized and appreciated for his unique offerings. Doing something well and being respected for it is extremely important to Jagger, and he cannot tolerate being in the background, taking orders from others or being 'just one of the team.' He must put his personal stamp -- or lips and tongue -- on whatever he does, and must direct his own course in life. He needs to have a place where he can shine, express himself creatively, and be the one in charge.

He has big dreams plus the determination, vitality and enthusiasm to bring them into being. He also has a noble, romantic heart and a love of the dramatic, colorful and extravagant. This is a man who has met his own expectations and surpassed them by far.

For Mick it is true that 'all the world's a stage' and he secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) desires to be the star or hero in the play. He wants to be great and to receive the love and applause of an adoring audience, even if that audience is just one other special person. He needs someone to believe in him and his dreams. Though he appears radiantly self-confident and independent, he is actually very much dependent on the affirmation, love and recognition of others. He cannot bear being unnoticed or unappreciated.

He also loves wholeheartedly and generously and knows how to make the person he loves feel special. He loves the magic of being in love and knows how to keep the romance alive in his relationships. He is also immensely loyal and will defend his loved ones, standing by them to the end -- as long as they never offend his pride or betray his trust. However, he likes to be the strong one in a relationship and does not share the lead role very easily. Ideally he needs a person who is as strong-willed as himself, but who will not try to dominate or compete with him.

His strengths are his passion for life, his creative power and his warm and generous heart. His primary fault is his tendency to be egocentric, so concerned with the impression he is making and with his own creative self-expression that he forgets there is another, larger world that does not revolve around him.

With Sun conjunct Jupiter he is blessed with abundant optimism, self-confidence and cheerful generosity. His good will and friendliness win him many followers. He also has grand visions and the desire to succeed in life in a big way. He expects the best, and usually gets it. In 1989, as a member of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sun sextile Neptune reveals that he is very open and receptive to the spiritual, intangible and subtle realms, and can easily receive or give conscious guidance based on his inner attunement. He takes many things for granted, such as the existence of an afterlife or the effects of subtle influences like aromatherapy and spiritual healing. These things seem obvious to him, whereas to many people they are a matter of conjecture or even illusory. He may not realize he has spiritual gifts because they come so naturally to him. Religious themes have come up many times in Rolling Stones' songs like 'Sympathy for the Devil', 'Blinded by Rainbows' and 'Saint of Me'. Jagger also touches on these subjects in solo albums like Wandering Spirit and Goddess in the Doorway, which includes such titles as 'Visions Of Paradise' and 'God Gave Me Everything'. In 1999, Mick, along with Jerry Hall, became briefly involved in Kabbalah.

Sun conjunct Pluto suggests that inwardly he is zealous and fanatical, though he may hide his personal desires, intentions and the intensity of his feelings. He is driven by a deep inner sense of destiny and an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition. He has an infatuation with power and is incredibly willful and stubbornly fixated on achieving greatness. He tends to admire heroes who have powerful personal magnetism, like blues great Muddy Waters, and often seeks to emulate them. He has potential for tremendous good or tremendous evil -- a quality that may have helped inspire 'Sympathy for the Devil.'

Please allow me to introduce myself

I'm a man of wealth and taste

I've been around for a long, long year

Stole many a man's soul and faith

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ

Had his moment of doubt and pain

Made damn sure that Pilate

Washed his hands and sealed his fate

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name

But what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game ....

Mercury in Leo dictates that he is a person of strong opinion who expresses his views vigorously and often dramatically. He is an entertaining speaker who will embellish or exaggerate in order to get his point across. He has an aptitude for storytelling and performing. Even if his arena is only the classroom or dining room table, he puts on a good show.

Mercury sextile Uranus means that his intellectual interests tend toward the offbeat or unusual. Anything alternative, innovative, experimental, creatively inspired or new is right up his alley. He may not have the patience to study these things in depth, but he has an instinctive grasp of them. The esoteric sciences like astrology and numerology are subjects he could pick up quite easily.

Mercury conjunct Pluto tells us that he suspects appearances are superficial. He is always probing beneath the surface to uncover the deeper, hidden aspects of an issue. He is interested in anything secret or mysterious. He has great powers of concentration and a penetrating mind, with an aptitude for research, investigative reporting or detective work. He is also keenly observant and seems to have 'x-ray vision' regarding the inner motivations and intentions of other people, uncovering the deeper causes and roots of their emotional problems. He may also be drawn to esoteric or occult studies and the development of unusual mental powers. Stories of mystery, intrigue and espionage fascinate him. Mercury conjunct Jupiter/N. Node makes him very sociable, with a talent for organizing and arranging. He is likely to enjoy the benefit of good cooperation between people and he proudly shares his successes with them. Mercury conjunct Pluto/N. Node says that he has a strong need to mentally dominate others and always take the lead in conversation. He is able to exert a powerful influence in his community and has far-reaching ideas to change the world for the better. 'I am conservative with a small 'c',' says Jagger. 'It's possible to be conservative in fiscal policy, and tolerant on moral issues or questions of freedom of expression.'

Venus in Virgo means that he is quietly devoted and faithful to his loved ones. He often becomes a kind of servant to his love partner, although he'll never be her 'Beast of Burden.' He is more comfortable showing love for someone by doing something for them, making something for them or simply being there for them -- rather than telling them so in a romantic, soul-stirring sort of way. He is hesitant about expressing too much sentiment or emotion.

In apparent contradiction, Venus trine Mars says that he is warmly romantic and openly expresses his appreciation and love of the opposite sex, though rarely in a crude or insensitive manner, 'Some Girls' aside. He enjoys playing matchmaker and bringing people together romantically. Fulfillment and harmony in love is possible for him because he knows what he wants and needs romantically and express those desires honestly.

Singer Marsha Hunt gave Mick his first child, daughter Karis, in 1970, when he was 27. On May 12, 1971, he married Bianca Moreno de Macias. They divorced in 1980 and have one child, Jade. He and Jerry Hall were married on November 21, 1990, and have four children --Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel. Their marriage ended in 1999. He also has a son, Lucas, by Luciana Gimenez.

Mars in Taurus reveals that once he sets his mind on a goal, his dedication to it is extraordinary. He pursues his ambitions tenaciously and will stubbornly refuse to give up, let go or be influenced in any way. He labors patiently and steadfastly until he achieves what he wants. He is a reliable and productive worker, often shouldering more of the workload than his co-workers. The nitty-gritty details often fall to Mick. After their bitter split with manager Allen B. Klein, Jagger took control of the band's business dealings, along with his friend, Prince Rupert von Lowenstein. The two have managed the band ever since.

Mick prefers a regular routine with definite hours and clearly defined responsibilities and tasks. In fact, establishing a pattern or routine is very important to his success because once he gets started in a certain direction, it is easy for him to follow it through to its completion. Getting started is more difficult, which is perhaps the inspiration for the song 'Start Me Up.'

He is interested in substantial results and solid, practical achievement. He needs to have a concrete product to show for his efforts and cannot be content with intangible rewards such as merely having a good time, learning or spiritual enrichment. Material well-being and security are large factors in determining what he does. Stamina and persistence are his great strengths.

Pluto conjunct Sun/Mercury suggests that perhaps due to his relationship with his parents, he may have felt rejected at times and may have sought drastic solutions to this problem. When he received knighthood in 2002 he took his 90-year-old father, Joe -- who had rebuked his son's love of 'jungle music' years earlier -- to the ceremony, along with daughters Karis and Elizabeth.

Pluto conjunct Mercury/Jupiter indicates that Jagger is likely to have great intellectual insights. His words carry vast influence, because the depth of his perception is evident to others. He is a good orator and can influence many people.

Like his partner Keith Richards, Mick has Jupiter in Leo, meaning that he cannot tolerate pettiness of any kind, and has a tendency to exaggerate. He also has a wonderful sense of drama, needing to live boldly and heroically. Otherwise he feels he is simply existing and wasting his talents. The desire for personal recognition - or even Fame - and a need to do something he feels really proud of, motivate him strongly. He has an unusual capacity for fun and playfulness as well.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto shows that he aims high and strives to position himself in a manner that will ensure success. He is not above rubbing elbows with others primarily for the opportunities and social status that they confer on him. Knighted for his 'services to popular music,' after an entire career of flaunting the establishment, Mick explained the contradiction. 'I don't think the establishment as we knew it exists any more. Honors are very nice, as long as you don't take it all too seriously.'

He abhors small-mindedness and his broad perspective predisposes him to an influential and successful position in life. With Jupiter sextile Uranus he is always open to whatever is new, willing to plunge in and experiment with a fresh approach. He is enthusiastic about learning, growing and expanding. As a result of this positive attitude, opportunities and unexpected good fortune are drawn into his life. He embraces change, delights in discovery, and enjoys sharing his excitement with other people. A sense of happy expectation and a sometimes outrageous sense of humor are two of his great gifts. Jupiter conjunct Sun/Mercury reveals a jovial and friendly manner along with a sound emotional and mental disposition. His enthusiasm for life is contagious and he probably enjoys many happy relationships. With Jupiter conjunct Sun/Pluto he has the ability to go far and to establish his position in life successfully. Chances are that success came to Mick more rapidly than he anticipated.

With Saturn in Gemini he may have had doubts about his own intelligence and mental capacities at times and worked very hard at studies to compensate. After Dartford Grammar School, he enrolled at the London School of Economics on a scholarship, studying for a degree in accounting and finance. He dropped out less than a year later to pursue a career in music. His Australian-born mother, Eva, an active member of the Conservative Party, disapproved of his choice and his father accepted it only grudgingly.

Saturn conjunct Sun/Mars means that he can be reserved, touchy and stiff with his emotions. One of his parents may have been too strict or cold and therefore he may be wary of close relationships. His father, who Mick regarded as a great influence in his life, died of pneumonia on November 11, 2006. He was 93. His mother died in 2000.

Pluto in Leo places Mick in a 20 year period that is often referred to as the 'Me Generation,' a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. However, this group also finds it difficult to be part of a team, with a strong egotism that makes group efforts difficult; this group tends to see the individual as more important than the group. They defy authority and feel that no one has the right to tell them what to do. There is also a tendency to be self-centered. This group's interest in personal development also manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a lot of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has its idols, but this generation in particular needs specific individuals to symbolize an idea. Mick Jagger is clearly one of those heroes who symbolize the mind-set and values of his generation. 'Anything worth doing is worth overdoing,' says Mick, 'It's all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back.'

Uranus sextile Pluto means that Mick belongs to a group of people who will be the positive reformers and innovators in society. Peaceful methods and new techniques, which bring about fundamental and profound changes in society will be this group's contribution. About the Stones' never ending tour, Jagger has said, 'Either we stay at home and become pillars of the community or we go out and tour. We couldn't really find any communities that still needed pillars.'
