The movie premiered at the 2006 Venice Film Festival where Helen's performance was given a five-minute standing ovation. It was her third Academy Award nomination. She was previously nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Madness of King George and Gosford Park. Dame Helen comes from an Eastern European background. His wife and son (Helen's father) later joined him in London.' Sun in Leo guarantees that she has a fierce amount of pride. She wants to shine and to be respected for her unique contributions. Doing something well and being recognized for it matters to her. In June 2003 she was created a Dame of the British Empire. 'In England, it's a big deal,' acknowledged Dame Helen. 'I do feel it's a great honor. But I had to think about it quite seriously for a couple of weeks. It does sort of squash you into the establishment thing. In the end, my baser feelings got the better of me. I succumbed to pride.' She has the spirit and vitality to bring larger-than-life visions to reality. Helen has a noble, romantic heart and a love of the dramatic, colorful and extravagant. She wants to be great and to receive the applause of an adoring audience, even if the audience is just one person. She needs someone to believe in her and her dreams. Dame Helen gives her love generously and knows how to make her beloved feel special. She loves the magic of being in love. She is immensely loyal and stands by her loved ones to the end -- as long as they don't betray her trust. She likes to be the strong one in a relationship. On the positive side are her joie de vivre, her artistic force and her kindheartedness. On the negative side she can be highly egotistical and self-absorbed. She once said, 'All you have to do is to look like crap on film and everyone thinks you're a brilliant actress. Actually, all you've done is look like crap.' With Sun sextile Mars she can be an inspiring leader of a team or group effort. Her dynamism and energy evoke the same in others. She sees healthy competition between people as a plus. Generally, she enjoys fine health. Her Sun's aspect to Mars and Neptune means that along with her energy and drive, she has high ideals and an active fantasy life. There is a dreamer and an idealist in her, as well as a doer and a fighter. She wants to win, but not at the expense of others; this may be something of a dilemma for her. With Sun sextile Neptune she is very open and receptive to the spiritual realms and can easily receive or give guidance based on inner attunement. She takes many things for granted, such as the existence of an afterlife or subtle influences like aromatherapy and spiritual healing. Because these things seem so obvious to her she may not realize she has special gifts. Mercury in Leo makes her a person of strong opinion. She expresses her views energetically and often dramatically. She is an entertaining speaker and will embellish or exaggerate in order to get her point across. Venus in Gemini promises that in love, Dame Helen is more interested in a person's sense of humor and intelligence than in their physique. She likes a partner who is mentally alive and who keeps her guessing. Mirren has lived with director Taylor Hackford in Los Angeles since 1986.
