Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger
April 4, 1979
Perth, Western Australia, Australia

With Venus, Mercury and Mars in Pisces, this Aries is like a fire surrounded by water.

'I'm not good at future planning. I don't plan at all. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't have a day planner and I don't have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future.'

Heath Ledger's Tarot Reading

Heath Andrew Ledger was born to Sally and Kim Ledger in Western Australia. He has one sister, Kate Ledger and two half sisters, Olivia Ledger and Ashleigh Bell. 'I learned respect for women,' recalls Heath, 'and patience. You grow up with all those women around you ... you learn to wait your turn.' He went to Guildford Grammar, a private boys' school. His main interests were sports and drama. In 1990, he was part of the Kalamunda field hockey team, but in the end it came down to drama. At age 17 he and a friend made their way to Sydney in search of acting careers. His first film role was a bit part in teen drama Blackrock (1997). Next came a TV show called 'Sweat' (1996) in which he played a gay cyclist hoping to make it to the Olympics. A brief role in Aussie TV show 'Home and Away' was followed by another small part in 'Paws' (1997) about Australian guitar sensation Nathan Cavaleri. He traveled to the USA looking for a break but didn't have much luck until he tried out for the starring role in an Australian gangster flick, Gregor Jordan's Two Hands (1999). This role earned him the lead in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999). His next films were The Patriot (2000), Monsters Ball (2001), A Knight's Tale (2001), The Four Feathers (2002) and Ned Kelly (2003).

2005 was a big year for Heath. He played Jacob Grimm in The Brothers Grimm (2005), a street tough surfer-turned-extreme-skateboarder in Lords of Dogtown (2005) and the title role in Casanova (2005). His career breakthrough, however, was the part of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain (2005) opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. In 2006 he played an addict in Candy. He is one of several actors to portray Bob Dylan in biopic I'm Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan (2007), and is slated to play The Joker in The Dark Knight (2008).

Sun in Aries tells us Heath thrives on challenge. He often feels that he must battle his way through life, depending upon no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. He believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision. Integrity and authenticity are his ideals and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others. He craves the freedom to do things his own way and works very well independently. Following orders is not his thing. He likes to be in charge.

Mercury in Pisces reveals he is intuitive, able to sense others' thoughts and feelings before they even say a word. He can be somewhat absent-minded, so immersed in his own thoughts that he overlooks things in his immediate environment. He is extremely open-minded and believes anything is possible. Spiritual forces seem just as real to him as anything in the concrete world. His imagination and sympathetic understanding of other people are two of his greatest gifts.

Venus in Pisces makes him tremendously softhearted and sympathetic. He gives selflessly and devotedly to those he loves. He and fiancee Michelle Williams met during filming of Brokeback Mountain. 'She's my soul mate and we couldn't love each other any more than we do already. We're like two peas in a pod,' says Heath. They have a daughter, Matilda Rose, who was born on October 28, 2005. 'My life right now ... my duties in life are that I wake up, cook breakfast, clean the dishes, prepare lunch, clean those dishes, go to the market, get fresh produce, cook dinner, clean those dishes and then sleep if I can. And I love it. I actually adore it.'

Mars in Pisces means he is noncompetitive and can be quite happy in a supporting role, working for the benefit of others or for a cause he believes in. Gentle and impressionable, he has many dreams, high ideals and a strong mystical or religious impulse. He also has a creative imagination and can successfully apply himself to art or music. Mars trine Jupiter indicates his self-confidence and vitality are strong and he believes he can do anything he puts his mind to. He has an enterprising spirit, a good sense of timing, and the ability to sense what will succeed and what won't. He likes to keep stretching his limits.

Jupiter in Cancer ensures he makes others feels accepted and comfortable. He has a knack for breaking down feelings of alienation, making others feel included and a part of group activities. He has a loving, protective side that wants to take care of everyone. Creating a supportive atmosphere that is nourishing both to himself and to others is one of his strengths. Home and heritage are important to him, and he maintains close connections to his past. Jupiter opposition Venus/Neptune indicates he is very receptive to beauty and art and has a need to live a comfortable life. He may find pleasure in illusions and tends to leave others in doubt about his real inner self.

With Saturn in Virgo he has a penchant for order and precision, and an almost compulsive attention to detail. He is often hypercritical and can be such a perfectionist that he discourages himself or others from even attempting something that won't be done exactly the way he knows it should be done.

'I only do this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk away.'
