Connecticut Democrat Chris Dodd was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1974. He served until 1980 when, at age 36, he was elected to the US Senate. He is Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. He helped introduce a bill to save the Constitution which 'restores Habeas Corpus rights, bars evidence gained through torture or coercion and reinstates U.S. adherence to the Geneva Conventions in order to protect the nation's military personnel abroad.' He served in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic and speaks Spanish fluently. If elected, he would double the size of the Peace Corps and make community service mandatory for all high school students.
