BeyonceBirth Details: This industrious Virgo is well on her way to super-stardom. With her five-in-one-year Grammy win, Beyonce tied the record for the most Grammys won in a single year by a female artist. And then there are her movies .... 'I've had the responsibility since I was 15 of someone who is 25 or 30, so now I have a lot of pressure. I employ a lot of people, I make a lot of adult decisions, and that has forced me to grow up a little faster.' Sun in Virgo: Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas. Her name was inspired by her mother's maiden name, Beyince. Her maternal grandparents, Lumis Beyince and Agnes Dereon, were Creole. Her younger sister is songwriter and producer, Solange Knowles. In 2005, Beyonce and her mother, Tina Knowles, established House of Dereon, a clothing line named after her grandmother Agnes, who was a seamstress. Beyonce was a student at Welch Middle School and later at The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, both in Houston. The lead singer of Destiny's Child began her career when she was seven years old by putting together an all-girl group with her cousin Kelly Rowland. The group eventually evolved into Destiny's Child. Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, manages the singing group and her mother designs their glamorous wardrobe. Beyonce writes and produces many of their songs, including hits 'Jumpin Jumpin,' 'Bootylicious,' 'Nasty Girl,' 'Independent Women,' 'Happy Face' and 'Apple Pie a la Mode.' About 'Bootylicious' she says, 'I wrote that because, at the time, I'd gained some weight and the pressure that people put you under, the pressure to be thin, is unbelievable. I was just 18 and you shouldn't be thinking about that. You should be thinking about building up your character and having fun and the song was telling everyone just forget what people are saying, you're bootylicious. That's all. It's a celebration of curves and a celebration of women's bodies.' With her Sun in Virgo, Beyonce is a seeming contradiction, being modest and humble at heart -- so much so that when she started out, she had to create an alter ego, named 'Sasha,' in order to feel comfortable onstage. True to her Sun sign, what she may have lacked in self-confidence she made up for in skill -- developing expertise, technical knowledge, and competency in specialized areas. Some might say she is a little too meticulous, for she can be extremely critical if everything is not done exactly as she thinks it should be. She may wish that she were not such a perfectionist, for besides being a stickler for details, she can be mercilessly self-critical. In 1999 she toured with female group, TLC as their opening act and in 2000 she opened for Christina Aguilera. Knowles won the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award in 2001. She is the first African-American woman to do so. In 2003, Beyonce performed at the Radio Music Awards, the MTV Europe Video Music Awards and the Billboard Awards. In 2004, she sang at The Academy Awards. Her first solo album Dangerously In Love won five Grammys, including Best Contemporary R and B Album, and bestowed more Grammys on Beyonce than anyone else in 2004. One of her biggest hits was the smash 'Crazy in Love.' Destiny's Child disbanded in the fall of 2005. She and the other members of the group received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2006. Beyonce's next film, Dreamgirls is due out December 2006. A typical Virgo, Knowles has a sharp, analytical mind and a keen eye for detail. She can be relied upon to be careful, efficient, and thorough in her work, taking pride in doing a job well. Though she may seem rather self-contained, she has a very helpful nature and enjoys serving others. In November 2003, she took part in a benefit show in South Africa, organized by Bono of U2, to fight AIDS in Africa. She and partner Jay-Z headlined at Prince's Urban Trust in April of 2004 and in 2005 she participated in the Fashion for Relief benefit for AmeriCares to support victims of Hurricane Katrina. Practical and cautious in her approach to life, Beyonce is not inclined to gamble. She prefers to analyze before she acts. In fact, she can be too serious at times and would do well to allow herself to make a few mistakes once in a while. With her Sun Conjunct Venus/Mars she is both sensitive and sensuous, blending charm and energy into a healthy sexuality. Romance comes easily to her and her romantic relationships are passionate, inspiring her to fall 'Crazy in Love' and even 'Dangerously in Love.' However, with Sun Conjunct Mars/Pluto she is in danger of working so hard that she becomes exhausted, leaving herself open to physical breakdown. Mercury in Libra gives Beyonce the ability to see both sides of an issue and to negotiate well. With considerable social finesse she works well with others in business and in personal relationships. Her sense of diplomacy is a benefit in any situation. Having Venus in Libra gives her a strong desire to please and understand her love partner. Because she values harmony, she will compromise a great deal to avoid conflict. She is attracted to people who have finesse and subtlety and wants an intellectual peer and a friend as a partner. Venus Sextile Neptune indicates a dreamy imagination and a refined sense of beauty. Involvement with sensitive or spiritually inclined people is very satisfying to her. On that note Beyonce says, 'Who I am onstage is very, very different from who I am in real life. But I don't see that having a sexy image when you are onstage means that you don't love God. No one knows what I'm really like from that .... I'm always so glammed up and so diva on stage and that's what they see. No one knows my personal relationship with God and it's not up to me to prove that to anyone.' With Mars in Leo, Beyonce is proud and ambitious, striving to excel, to stand out and be recognized for who and what she is. She has a very strong ego drive and likes to be number one, which may explain how 'Sasha' accidentally upstaged Prince during a recent onstage duet. Bio info from www.IMDb.com |
