Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger
July 30, 1947
Thal, Styria, Austria

This Lion has been called the King because of his unshakable determination to excel at everything he does.

'I will not change. Because when you are successful and you change, you are an idiot.'

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born to Aurelia and Gustav Schwarzenegger in a tiny town in Austria. He got into body building at an early age and began competing in Europe. In 1968, he moved to America, the place he'd dreamed of all through school; he was 21 years old. In 1970, the 'World's Strongest Man' landed his first film role as Hercules in Hercules in New York. He then played a hit-man in Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye (1973). His next role, a body builder training to compete for the Mr. Universe title in Stay Hungry (1976), earned him a Golden Globe. The following year he played himself in body building classic, Pumping Iron. He did a couple more movies in 1979 and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Business and International Economics. He played Mickey Hargitay in The Jayne Mansfield Story in 1980 but his big break came in 1982 with the made-to-order role of Conan the Barbarian. He topped that in 1984 with both Conan the Destroyer and another iconic role as The Terminator. In 1990, after another string of action adventures, he played Douglas Quaid in sci-fi thriller Total Recall and showed his playful side as Detective John Kimble in Kindergarten Cop. His next run included Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Last Action Hero, True Lies, Jingle All the Way, Eraser, Batman & Robin, Collateral Damage, Terminator 3 and Around the World in 80 Days, among others.Premiere Magazine puts his role in the Terminator flicks at Number 40 on their list of 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time, and he holds the 53rd spot on Entertainment Weekly's Greatest Movie Stars of All Time.

In 1983 Arnold became a U.S. citizen. On April 26, 1986 he and Maria Shriver, niece of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert and Ted Kennedy, were married in Hyannis, Massachusetts. They have four children, Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. On August 6, 2003 he announced his candidacy for Governor of California on 'The Tonight Show' with Jay Leno. On October 7, 2003, he became the second Republican actor to hold the office, Ronald Reagan having been the first. He was re-elected in 2006.

A Leo Sun promises he is proud and highly individualistic. Just to prove the point, he has said, 'The worst I can be is the same as everybody else. I hate that.' Arnold wants to stand out and be recognized. Doing something well and being respected for it is essential to him. He knows how to dream big and make his dreams real. He loves the magic of being in love and can keep the spark alive in his relationships. Extremely devoted, he needs a partner who is indomitable but will not try to rule the roost. His strengths are enthusiasm, creative power and a romantic heart. His main fault is his tendency to be egocentric and to forget there is a larger world that does not revolve around him.

Sun in the 10th house tells us he has a strong desire to be influential. He would not be content sitting back and just having a happy life. He needs to make a major contribution to the world and to receive the accolades that come with it. However, with his Sun quincunx his Moon, he has a conflict between his conscious aspirations and his subconscious needs and emotions. This creates considerable inner stress, mostly because he may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in his body may well be a signal that he is denying or suppressing the messages from his subconscious. Ideally, he will learn to accept the two quite different aspects of himself and to express both of them. Otherwise, he is apt to attract people who reflect his repressed qualities, and who seem to make his life difficult.

Sun conjunct Saturn means he is serious, self-disciplined and reliable. He advances through hard work and persistence. He can be rather judgmental, especially with himself. Sun sextile Neptune tells us he is very receptive to the spiritual realms and can easily receive or give guidance based on his inner attunement. He may not realize he has spiritual gifts because they come so naturally to him. Sun conjunct Pluto shows that he is driven by a deep sense of mission and an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition. He has an infatuation with power and is stubbornly fixated on achieving greatness. He tends to worship heroes who have powerful personal magnetism and charisma, and often seeks to emulate them. As a child, his hero and role model was John Wayne. As governor, he proclaimed May 26, 2007 John Wayne Day in California.

Moon in Capricorn makes him doubly serious and responsible. Like Atlas, he tries to carry the world on his shoulders and rarely lets others know when he needs support. He denies his own emotional needs, believing others will not accept him if he appears 'weak.' This is more than obvious when he says things like, 'Everybody pities the weak; jealousy you have to earn.' He is especially uncomfortable with emotional dependency, and will tell anyone (even children) not to be a 'baby.' He needs to accept that no one is self-sufficient all the time, and to be gentler with his own 'childish' emotional needs and wants. His feelings and loyalties run deep, and no one is a truer friend. But he often does not let people know how much he cares. Moon square Neptune means he is a dreamer, attracted to the mystical side of life. He can be naive about people, especially if his sympathy has been aroused. He is very sensitive to music and can use it to bring himself into emotional balance and harmony. Moon opposite Mercury/Uranus indicates he is intellectual, resents interference and is hard to deceive. Moon opposite Venus/Mars gives him an affectionate and fun-loving nature.

Libra rising means he is a natural diplomat. He has a strong desire for harmonious relationships and expresses a spirit of cooperation, friendship and fairness. He wants to be liked and because of his need for approval and acceptance, is easily influenced by others. His need to create harmony extends to his personal appearance and physical environment. 'California will not wait for our federal government to take strong action on global warming,' he has declared. 'We will move forward because we know it's the right thing to do. We will lead on this issue and we will get other western states involved. I think there's not great leadership from the federal government when it comes to protecting the environment.'

To Arnold, relationships are an art -- an art he is skilled at, for he possesses tact and awareness of other people. Finding the right person to share his life with has been extremely important to him. With Mars trine his ascendant, he is direct, honest and to the point. No one has to guess who he is or what he wants. He radiates a refreshing enthusiasm and vigor when he's at his best, and seems to enjoy competition without taking it terribly seriously. Pluto sextile the ascendant says he has penetrating insight into people and a keen eye and ear for the hidden, unspoken elements in life. He can be intense, making other people a bit uncomfortable at times. There is also a sexual quality in his manner. His rising sign conjunct Moon/Venus tells us others are attracted to him because of his light-hearted and optimistic personality. He is charming, very affectionate toward others and has a need to be in daily contact with people.
