50 Cent50 Cent This highly emotional Cancer has a lot more compassion than his public image lets on. 'I don't display emotions. I have every feeling that everyone else has but I've developed ways to suppress them. Anger is one of my most comfortable feelings.' Curtis James Jackson III was born in Queens, but grew up in New York City. He dreamed of being a heavyweight boxer, but the call to music was stronger and he earned considerable street credit as a rapper. However, problems with bootleggers, not to mention serious attempts on his life, made it next-to-impossible for him to get a record deal. He might have remained a voice in the urban wilderness had it not been for Eminem who commented on the radio that '50 Cent is definitely my favorite rapper right now, he's the only one keeping it real.' The next day several record companies began competing to sign 50 to a recording contract and he wound up signing with Eminem's label Shady/Aftermath. His debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' sold 900,000 copies its first week out, setting an all-time record. He returned Eminem's favor in his song, 'Patiently Waiting:' Hey Em, you know you my favorite white boy, right? 50 Cent not only grew up without his father, his 23-year-old mother was also taken from him by a gunshot when he was eight years old. Raised by his grandparents, 50 has more than risen from the hardships that the mean streets dealt him, earning the Number Eight spot on the 2006 Forbes Magazine Celebrity 100 List. With his Sun in Cancer, 50 Cent has powerful emotional attachments to the past, his family, his childhood, the places he associates with safety and security and his beginnings. Maintaining a connection with his roots and keeping family bonds strong are very important to him. He has a son, Marquise, who goes by the nickname 25 Cent. He speaks very frankly to his son in the song, 'Bump Dat Street Mix' from the album, 50 Cent Is The Future (with G-UNIT): My son ask 'Daddy why carry a gun, you ain't a cop' Loyal and devoted, he tends to cling to whatever is dear to him, be it person, familiar place or cherished possession. He is supportive, nurturing and very sensitive to the emotional needs of other people. He likes to be needed, to care for others and often worries about the people he loves. With a very strong need for a sense of belonging and acceptance, he centers much of his life around his home -- a multi-million dollar mansion once owned by boxing legend Mike Tyson. 50 Cent is more concerned about people and their feelings than with power, achievement or position in society. Kindness, consideration and tenderness impress him more than any sort of honor the world might offer. He is primarily emotional and his views are often dominated by his feelings and his own personal experiences, rather than logic or abstract principles. It is difficult for him to judge situations in a fair, objective manner for his personal sympathies and loyalties usually enter in. He takes things very personally and sometimes builds a wall around himself to protect himself from pain. 'In my neighborhood if you're too aggressive, you intimidate someone, they kill you,' he explains. 'Or if you decide to be emotional and you start crying, you're a victim. You know, the kid in the schoolyard that doesn't want to fight always leaves with a black eye. You have to find a way to stay in the middle, somewhere where people just don't mess with you because they know that you don't have a problem with it if it goes there.' He may be rather vulnerable at heart. He also tends to be moody, experiencing frequent emotional ups and downs. He needs to have a place and time in his life to withdraw, a place for introspection where he can dream and replenish himself; otherwise he can become irritable and unhappy with those around him. He functions in an instinctive, non-rational manner and likes to immerse himself in creative activities where he can express his feelings, imagination and instincts. He may enjoy cooking, since it can be both creative and a way to nurture and nourish others. He has a great affinity for music, because it evokes and communicates feelings that may be difficult or impossible to express any other way. His compassion, sensitivity and imagination are his strong points. His faults include an inability to release the past and go forward, clannishness and prejudice. With Sun conjunct Jupiter/Pluto he is capable of extraordinary physical and mental efforts to gain success and achieve something that will bring him recognition and respect. He has a strong need for authority and power over others and is likely to perform better in a position of leadership. Mercury in Gemini indicates that he has an extremely active and versatile mind with many interests and an inexhaustible curiosity about life. He is quick to grasp new concepts and equally quick to lose interest in an idea or project once his curiosity has been satisfied. He likes to taste a little bit of everything. He has a flair for language, playing with words, speaking, writing or teaching in an entertaining and informative way. He also enjoys meeting new people, conversing and learning a little bit about them and works well with the public. His ability to be articulate and to communicate well is one of his greatest strengths. Uranus opposition Mars/Jupiter shows that he is ambitious, very independent and has a great need for freedom. He probably had the urge to be on his own early in life and strongly resisted guidance from his elders, although he doesn't smoke or drink alcohol. He is quite restless, but has the ability to make the right decisions very quickly. With Venus in Leo, 50 is warmhearted and generous in love and cannot tolerate pettiness or stinginess in a partner. He wants a Princess to idolize and adore, someone he wholeheartedly admires and can be proud of. He is tremendously loyal and devoted once he gives his heart to someone, a sentiment he expresses in his song, 'Best Friend,' from the album, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. If I was your best friend, I want you 'round all the time Craving love, appreciation and attention from others, 50 hates to be ignored. He is rather susceptible to flattery and loves to feel special. He enjoys a little drama and color in his love life and grand romantic gestures or extravagant expressions of generosity impress him. With Venus sextile Uranus he needs a lot of emotional and romantic stimulation and may not be very interested in having just one partner in love. Variety, excitement, spontaneity and freedom are important to him and 'settling down' doesn't really appeal to him. He tends to surround himself with unusual, creative, unconventional people who keep his life lively. Music or dancing or both play an important part in his life. In fact, he is credited with creating a dance called the Two Step. Venus conjunct Saturn/Pluto indicates that he has great self-discipline and knows exactly what he can demand of himself. His love relationships are inclined to have a lot of problems and at times he may wish to give up on love altogether and retreat to a life of solitude and seclusion. Neptune opposition Sun/Mars means that his attitude about love is somewhat unrealistic. He tends to idealize his partner and create a beautiful image in his mind, pretending that she fits the image. But when the cloud lifts and the truth becomes clear, he could be disillusioned. With Mars in Taurus, once he sets his mind on a goal, his dedication, determination and commitment to it are extraordinary. As a dramatic example, three days before he began making a video with Destiny's Child for his first single, 'Thug Love,' 50 Cent was shot nine times. Two bullets hit him in the head. Not even that stopped him. He pursues his ambitions tenaciously and will stubbornly refuse to give up, let go or be influenced in any way. He labors patiently and steadfastly until he achieves what he wants. He is a reliable, consistent and productive worker who often shoulders more of the workload than his co-workers, usually without complaint. The nitty-gritty work often falls to 'Fiddy.' He prefers a regular routine, with definite hours and clearly defined responsibilities. Establishing a pattern or routine is very important to his success because once he gets started in a certain direction, it is easy for him to follow through to completion. Getting started is more difficult. He has a languid, comfort-loving side and there is often a good deal of inertia for him to overcome before he gets going. Once he gets his mojo working, his energy level is strong and steady. He is interested in concrete results and achievement, saying, 'The only thing that I'm scared of is not livin' up to the expectations of Dr. Dre and Eminem.' He needs to have a solid product to show for his efforts and cannot be content with intangible rewards such as just having a good time, learning or spiritual enrichment. Material wellbeing and security are large factors in determining what he does. Stamina and persistence are his great strengths but they can also work against him if he gets stuck in a rut. Mars opposition Pluto/N. Node suggests that he is inclined to be a tyrant who wants others to submit to his wishes. In his drive to gain power, he could be ruthless and brutal at times. Explains 50, 'I think it's easier for the general public to embrace me in a negative way. You have people who already have a perception of me that says I'm a bad person.' On the other hand, he may have to struggle to resist being placed in someone else's hands and power. With Jupiter in Aries he believes strongly in the power of positive thinking and in each person's ability to achieve whatever they desires through their own initiative and effort. The more 50 relies on himself, the better he feels. The joy of competing -- and especially winning -- runs deep in him. Adding acting to his list of triumphs in the entertainment business, 50 Cent stars alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel and Victoria Rowell in the film, Home of the Brave, which opened in New York and Los Angeles on December 15, 2006. The film is about 'three soldiers who struggle to readjust to their lives after returning home from a lengthy tour in Iraq.' He has also written an autobiography called From Pieces to Weight. His albums, Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre have been certified multi-platinum, having sold approximately twenty million copies internationally. |
